Daniel downs Kecmanovic, Cilic survives scare

Taro Daniel of Japan eased past Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia 6-4, 6-1 in the first round of the ATP Chengdu Open on Tuesday.
Daniel, ranked 116th in the world, broke Kecmanovic's serve four times and saved the only break point he faced.
The 29-year-old Daniel will face either top-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada or Kwon Soon-woo of South Korea in the second round.
Cilic battles past Zhang
Marin Cilic of Croatia survived a scare to defeat wild-card entry Zhang Zhizhen of China 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 in the first round of the ATP China Open on Tuesday.
Cilic, a former world No. 3, dropped the first set but recovered to win the next two sets comfortably.
The 34-year-old Cilic will face either Andy Murray of Great Britain or John Isner of the United States in the second round.
