WEB Local elections in England 4 May

Counting is complete: all 230 councils have declared their results

National and local results are available below.

Labour has won a landslide victory in the UK general election, according to a BBC forecast, meaning Keir Starmer will be the new prime minister.   The 2023 United Kingdom local elections were held on Thursday 4 May 2023 in England and on Thursday 18 May 2023 in Northern Ireland.   With all of the results declared, the Conservatives have lost control of more than 100 councils, while Labour and the Liberal Democrats have made significant gains, particularly in former Conservative strongholds in southern England.   The results will be seen as a major setback for Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has been under increasing pressure to resign in recent months. The Conservative Party has lost more than 300 council seats, its worst performance in local elections since 1994.   Labour has gained more than 150 council seats, its best result since 2002. The Liberal Democrats have gained more than 100 seats, while the Scottish National Party has gained 18 seats in Scotland.   The results are likely to have a significant impact on the future of British politics, with both Labour and the Liberal Democrats calling for a general election.
