The Boston Celtics have taken a commanding 2-1 lead in the 2024 NBA Finals after defeating the Dallas Mavericks 106-99 in Game 3 at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.
Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown Lead Celtics
Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 31 points, while Jaylen Brown added 30 points. The Celtics also received strong contributions from Marcus Smart (20 points) and Al Horford (15 points, 12 rebounds).
Tough Game for Mavericks
The Mavericks, who had played well in the first two games of the series, struggled in Game 3. Kristaps Porzingis, who had been one of Boston's best players in Games 1 and 2, was held to just 13 points on 5-of-15 shooting. Luka Dončić also struggled, scoring just 26 points on 9-of-24 shooting.
The Celtics' defense played a key role in the win. They forced the Mavericks into 16 turnovers and held them to just 43.1% shooting from the field.
With the win, the Celtics are now just one game away from winning their 18th NBA championship. Game 4 of the series will be played in Dallas on Friday night.
